I wrote both of these in my preteens or early teens. My mother read them and was concerned about both, but for different reasons. I left the original punctuation because back then, it seems I was more allergic to modern style. Enjoy! </3

First of March

My soul now sighs of something sweet,

The minuet of mirth —

As echoes from each budding beech, and flowering tree and bird.

Come sing with me!

Enwrap oneself within this Eden, earth.

The feath’ry flowers now awake

To greet this glorious day.

The clouds unveil his beaming bride,

Whose beauty flings a ray

On every floret of fair earth —

But only for today!

So glide with me,

On fairie-wing,

Why walk when we can fly?

Treasure the splendor of the earth

And the glory of the sky.

Wish

I once had a fish

Who I named Wish.

His fins were a cerulean blue.

And he wiggled,

Wriggled

Flashed!

fluttered and flopped….

As only a fish could do.

Each sliver of scale was a dreamy white

His long tail a twilighted hue,

How he

shimmered and glided and glimmered and glowed…

Swirled

Lifted

Flickered

And Flew! — -As only a Wish can do.

One day he assumed the air was a sky

As he leapt over the life that bound him.

And to my dismay

His form lay

Cold.

On the Floor

When I found him

I once had a fish

Yes, I named him Wish.

Now his body lies dead,

Dry and gray.

.And all I have left is his

(Poor

Little

Bowl)

And the Water where I watched him play.
